GOTUBE RESEARCH FACILITY
On March 14th the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer officially inaugurated the goTube research infrastructure, a 27-meter steel hyperloop tube on the Emden campus—the currently longest hyperloop facility in Germany. In March 2025, we were honored to host Rüdiger Eichel from the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony, representing Minister Falko Mohrs; he officially inaugurated the Institute of Hyperloop Technology’s goTube in front of more than 100 guests. The event brought together representatives from state and EU politics, industry, and academia, including partners of the EU-funded project Hyper4Rail. Insights from goTube will feed into projects like Hyper4Rail to define harmonized standards for hyperloop in Europe. Many guests celebrated this milestone, particularly local industry partners and interested companies eager to learn about the hyperloop system and dive into testing of specific technologies. Investments from Lower Saxony and the EU are giving this research focus a strong momentum; the facility costs approximately 1 million €.
OUR MISSION
Research
We are focusing our hardware testing on dynamic pressure testing, structural health monitoring, thermal management
Weiterlesen…& airdock testing with the goTube research infrastructure. GoTube allows us to conduct pressure testing with the facility and study the dynamic behavior during low pressure operations. In collaboration with our Dutch and German partners in the HyperBridge project, structural health monitoring is conducted through various sensors at both the goTube and EHC facilities. We are also looking at thermal management and airdock solutions to be tested with the help of the goTube research infrastructure in the future.
European Network
The IHT aims for and is involved in the development of a harmonized European hyperloop concept in the ERJU financed EU-project Hyper4Rail.
Weiterlesen…The IHT performs simulations, establishes Frameworks for modelling and validates technologies through testing in the goTube research facility.
We are determined to bring Hyperloop researchers and companies in Europe together and advance the technology to develop a European standard. Through collaborative projects, SMEs, corporations, knowledge institutes, education, and public authorities are brought together to advance developments, increase public acceptance and educate next generations.
Largest Full-Scale Hyperloop Research Infrastructure
For a long time IHT has also been advocating for a large-scale European Hyperloop Research Infrastructure or reference track
Weiterlesen…and is pushing the matter on political, research and technological level with its MoU partners, the Hyperloop Development Programm and Mode 5 project on EU, national and state level. A collaboration between the Dutch province of Groningen and the State of Lower Saxony was established to further develop technologies, push for a large-scale research infrastructure and join efforts in a broader cross-border collaboration.
