IHT’s Commitment to Excellence in the European Hyperloop Week

Both Lukas Eschment and Thomas Schüning have been invited to serve as judges at the prestigious European Hyperloop Week in Amsterdam in 2022. Building on this engagement, Lukas has continued his involvement with the EHC across multiple years and locations, judging competitions in Edinburgh in 2023, Zürich in 2024, and Veendam in 2025. This sustained participation reflects IHT’s dedication to maintaining high standards of evaluation and supporting student teams across Europe.

Beyond his role as a judge, the IHT has been actively involved with presentations from Lukas Eschment at these events, sharing insights about magnetic levitation systems and the future of hyperloop transportation technology. He delivered presentations in 2022, 2023, and 2024, contributing to the knowledge exchange that characterizes these competitions.

Lukas’s involvement extends beyond evaluation to include direct support for student teams in establishing competition processes and frameworks. He served on the EHW advisory board. Looking forward to 2026 and beyond, the IHT remains committed to ensuring that the EHW continues to evolve and improve as a long-term student competition format, especially for the conference part where teams submit their research reports. High-quality student papers are systematically reviewed by professors and experts in the field, ensuring academic rigor alongside engineering innovation. This commitment to research excellence has become a defining success factor for the EHW, with numerous papers being cited across industry projects, thereby extending the impact of student work beyond the competition itself and establishing the EHW as a credible platform for advancing hyperloop transportation knowledge and development.
