BOARD OF DIRECTIONS

Head of IHT
Prof. Dr. Walter Neu, Head of IHT, has been a driving force behind the “HyperPodX” student team, mentoring them through all three international Hyperloop competitions. His guidance and expertise in physics have helped build a strong bridge between academia, industry, and politics, laying the foundation for future Hyperloop innovation. Today, he is leading efforts to unite European partners in pioneering research and groundbreaking technological advancements in Hyperloop development.

Head of IHT
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Schüning launched “HyperPodX” as faculty advisor, supporting the team with technical expertise throughout all three hyperloop competitions. He used this role to build a strong network with industry and academic partners across key hyperloop technologies. Today, he focuses on uniting European initiatives to advance hyperloop implementation and drive new technologies for future transportation.
ADMINISTRATION

Gisela Colgen-Schultz is our project assistant, providing administrative support to our team. In this role, she is responsible for coordinating meetings, managing project documentation, and providing general administrative assistance to the team. TEAM MEMBERS

PhD Candidate
Lukas Eschment helped initiate and is now coordinating projects at the Institute of Hyperloop Technology where he is also a PhD candidate. After starting with the Hyperloop Pod Competitions and reaching out to industry partners, he is now focusing his work on an European Hyperloop Large Scale Technological Research Infrastructure. He is involved in standardization at national and European level, EU projects and Hyperloop Programs like ePIcenter, the Hyperloop Development Program and the EU HyTeC project. Today he is focussing on Hyperloop efforts on a European level forming partnerships and consortia including industry and academia with the goal of developing future transportation.

Electrical Engineer
Miko Sikken joined the IHT team in March 2026. He supports laboratory operations, sets up technological demonstrators, and focuses on the electrical and control engineering of the vehicle prototype. Alongside his administrative duties, he helps process and present research findings. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer, where he is currently pursuing his Master’s in Industrial Informatics.
