HyperBridge
October 2025 – September 2029

HyperBRIDGE strengthens the hyperloop ecosystem in the German-Dutch border region by actively connecting SMEs, knowledge institutions, and innovation networks. The project leverages the unique test facilities EHC in Veendam and goTube in Emden as a cross-border test and development lab for new hyperloop technologies. Its goal is to develop market-oriented hyperloop components and systems with immediate applications and valuable spin-off opportunities for sectors such as automotive, logistics, infrastructure, energy, and communications. The consortium focuses on four innovation domains: structural health monitoring for infrastructure, communication standards for pod-to-pod connectivity, an operational control system for hyperloop prototypes, and interactive digital twins for training, maintenance, and prototyping. In addition, a serious game for business model development and a digital knowledge hub will be created to ensure long-term collaboration and knowledge exchange.
December 2024 – November 2026

Hyper4Rail is a European research project funded by Horizon Europe and coordinated by Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking. The initiative brings together 27 partners from 13 countries to develop a harmonized hyperloop concept as part of Europe’s future sustainable high-speed transport system. The project defines common design standards, explores business models and use cases, and validates key subsystems.
2020 – present

The Hyperloop Development Program is a public-private partnership dedicated to develop Hyperloop as a high-speed, zero-emissions transport solution. This result could play a significant role in the climate transition, while simultaneously deliver economic growth. Investigation of operational aspects surrounding a hyperloop research infrastructure and evaluation of further testing needs as well as the necessary steps for the realization of additional testing facilities.
November 2022 – May 2027

Funded by the State of Lower Saxony and the Volkswagen Foundation, the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer is establishing a cross-border German-Dutch transfer center for sustainable mobility. As a living laboratory, it offers regional SMEs access to expertise and infrastructure. The center focuses on innovative mobility technologies, sustainable energy, and new mobility concepts, fostering long-term cooperation between academia and industry.
COMPLETED PROJECTS

ePicenter
Date: June 2020 – May 2024
The ePIcenter project is a large consortium of 36 partners representing leading ports, forwarders, cargo owners, logistics providers, knowledge institutes and technology firms. The partners will join forces to provide hands on solutions that turn global supply chain challenges caused by increasing length, complexity and vulnerability into opportunities.

European Hyperloop Technology Center – EuHyTeC
Date: 2018 – April 2023
EU HyTeC will connect European Hyperloop initiatives to collectively develop the next generation of transportation. For us bringing together partners from academia and industry is key for a European Hyperloop solution. Therefore, we are actively searching for partners to create a large-scale European Hyperloop research infrastructure on the basis of the existing large-scale MagLev test facility.
